Moth Prevention Treatment

Moth Damage to Pianos:

Moths are widespread and cause serious damage to pianos – which may result in repairs running into many hundred of pounds.

The moths known as wool moths or clothes moths live in the piano action and under the keys. They are difficult to detect unless the piano is stripped down and are seen flying only rarely, if at all. Once established in the piano, they usually spread into the house, infesting carpets, soft furnishings, wardrobes and clothes drawers and eating holes in these items.

With the warming of the climate and universal central heating, moths and moth eggs are now found in a significant number of pianos which is rising.

We highly recommend that you ask as to inspect your piano for moths and we will treat it if eggs are found. If we are tuning your piano, we will remove the appropriate parts to check your piano for you, at no extra cost.
